Our History

The Firm ‘Giontella e Associati’ was founded by lawyer Marco Giontella, who was named in a short-list of the best Italian tax lawyers in the magazine Il Mondo (28th May 1999) and began his career in Assonime (Accredited Tax Service for the Italian Industrial Federation), later on as partner at the firm ‘Fantozzi e Associati’. From there, he dived into the world of international law firstly as equity partner of Arthur Andersen and then at Deloitte. He was a member of the merger committee between Arthur Andersen and Deloitte, who merged and created the largest firm in the world. From then onwards, Avv Giontella realised that the dimensional expansion and that of the firms’ clientele was directly proportional to conflicts of interest and the lack of independence of both entities.
The industry needed the same professional expertise of the Magic Circle firms, however, without a brand that could cause independence conflicts. Legal and tax advice therefore had to distinguish itself altogether from those who were certifying balance sheets, just like the Sarbanes-Oxley Act had done in the United States, following the well-known Enron scandal. From this moment, the firm ‘Giontella and Associates’ was born, as an initiative between experts with the same professional skills and origin, characterised from the outset by: Autonomy & independence Passion for excellence Big attention to detail and rigorous application of the law Experience gained through a corporate clientele Our choice has borne fruit ever since, especially in terms of the satisfaction rate and loyalty demonstrated by our clients, which makes us all proud at GeA.
